Nasceu em 1946 em Lisboa, onde vive e trabalha. Tendo frequentado a Faculdade de Belas Artes de Lisboa, ingressou posteriormente na École de Arts Visuels et d'Architecture de l'Abbeye de la Cambre, em Bruxelas. Colaborou como actriz e cenógrafa com o Teatro Universitário de Lisboa.
O seu corpo de trabalho, desenvolvido desde a década de 80, é feito de uma sequência de rupturas e apagamentos: o apagamento dos seus próprios passos anteriores, das ideologias do modernismo, dos mitos do pós-modernismo, da própria noção de autoria que ela tanto desconstrói como reconstitui. Assim, a artista tem vindo a desmantelar a noção de um «estilo único ou «coerente». Com inteligência, humor e uma sempre depurada economia de meios, Ana Jotta faz esperar sempre o inesperado.
Desde os princípios dos anos 90, tem sido uma presença assídua em feiras de arte e bienais (ARCO, Bruxelas, Joanesburgo, Barcelona, etc.). Em 2005, realizou uma exposição retrospetiva no Museu de Serralves. Ganhou vários prémios, entre eles o Grande Prémio Fundação EDP (2013), Prémio AICA (2014) e Rosa Shapire Award (2017).
O universo criativo de Jorge Nesbitt (Lisboa,1972) é facilmente reconhecível através das associações inusitadas presentes nas suas obras. Às evidentes referências à literatura, associa múltiplas referências à pintura, desde a Holanda do séc. XVII ao modernismo de Picasso.
A originalidade e o carácter muito pessoal do trabalho de Jorge Nesbitt surgem desta complexa combinação de afinidades artísticas e literárias, associadas a uma versatilidade técnica notável. É também deste modo que as suas obras se integram no seu tempo, com a dose certa de humor e poesia necessárias à condição do artista contemporâneo.
Expõe regularmente os seus trabalhos desde 1999.

Ana Jotta
Born in 1946 in Lisbon, where she lives and works. Having attended the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon, she later enrolled at the École de Arts Visuels et d'Architecture de l'Abbeye de la Cambre in Brussels. She worked as an actress and set designer with the Teatro Universitário de Lisboa.
Her body of work, developed since the 1980s, is made up of a sequence of ruptures and erasures: the erasure of her own previous steps, of the ideologies of modernism, of the myths of postmodernism, of the very notion of authorship that she both deconstructs and reconstitutes. In this way, the artist has been dismantling the notion of a «single or «coherent» style. With intelligence, humor and an ever-pure economy of means, Ana Jotta always makes us expect the unexpected.
Since the early 1990s, he has been a regular presence at art fairs and biennials (ARCO, Brussels, Johannesburg, Barcelona, etc.). In 2005, he held a retrospective exhibition at the Serralves Museum. He has won several awards, including the EDP Foundation Grand Prize (2013), the AICA Prize (2014) and the Rosa Shapire Award (2017).
Jorge Nesbitt
The creative universe of Jorge Nesbitt (Lisbon, 1972) is easily recognisable through the unusual associations present in his works. In addition to the obvious references to literature, he combines multiple references to painting, from 17th century Holland to Picasso's modernism.
The originality and highly personal character of Jorge Nesbitt's work arise from this complex combination of artistic and literary affinities, associated with a remarkable technical versatility. It is also in this way that his works fit into their time, with the right dose of humour and poetry necessary for the condition of the contemporary artist.
He has exhibited his work regularly since 1999.
