Õhuloss [Castelo no Ar] é um grupo de seis artistas de joalharia estonianos – Piret Hirv, Kristiina Laurits, Kadri Mälk, Villu Plink, Tanel Veenre e Eve Margus-Villems – que vivem e trabalham em Tallinn, Estónia. Formado em 1999, tem exposto na Estónia, Países Baixos, Espanha, Alemanha, Dinamarca, Portugal, Itália, Israel, Hungria, França, Letónia e China.

Apresenta expressões excitantes e individuais que se distinguem de forma refrescante das expectativas comuns em relação à joalharia. Pão negro, ferro enferrujado, escovas, «poeira cósmica» não estão entre os materiais usualmente preferidos dos joalheiros, mas esse não é o caso destes seis joalheiros estónios. Eles recorrem a muitos materiais na conceção de objetos que estão na fronteira entre as artes aplicadas e as artes visuais. Criam peças de joalharia intrigantes que parecem flutuar no tempo e no espaço e brincar com os conceitos. As criações poéticas destes seis artistas evocam uma era passada, mas a escolha de materiais é suficientemente chocante para nos trazer de volta ao presente.

A indiscutível força do trabalho reside no seu poder de sugestão, que provoca um encantamento no espectador. A nova joalharia do grupo õhuLoss investiga o mundo e a vida, mas também se investiga a si mesma. É um meio de comunicação sem palavras, exprimindo a ambivalência da moderna atitude perante a vida. Estes artistas estonianos mostram que a joalharia especialmente inteligente e próxima da natureza é muito poderosa. Esta joalharia revela a humanidade dos sentimentos de quem a usa. O propósito desta joalharia, de acordo com Kadri Mälk, está no tranquilo suporte a quem a usa e na discreta revelação da sua identidade.

Õhuloss [Castel in the Air] is a group of six Estonian jewellery artists – Piret Hirv, Kristiina Laurits, Kadri Mälk, Villu Plink, Tanel Veenre and Eve Margus-Villems – that work and live in Tallinn, Estónia. Formed in 1999 has since exhibited their works jointly in Estonia, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Denmark, Portugal, Italy, Israel, Hungary, France, Latvia and China. The group presents exciting and individualistic means of expression, which distinguish themselves refreshingly from familiar expectations of form in jewellery. Black bread, rusty iron, brushes, ’cosmic dust’ are not usually amongst the preferred materials used by jewellery artists but this is not the case for the six Estonian jewellers. They make use of many organic materials in the design of objects which are on the border between applied and visual arts. They create confusing pieces of jewellery which appear to hover in time and space and play with these concepts. The poetical creations of the six artists evoke a past era, but their choice of materials is shocking enough to bring the viewer back to the present. The undisputed strength of the work lies in its suggestive power, which puts the viewer under its spell. The new jewellery of the õhuLoss group probes itself, the world and life. It is a medium for communication without words, expressing the ambivalence of the modern attitude towards life. These Estonian artists show that especially intelligent jewellery close to nature is very powerful. This jewellery reveals the human feelings of the wearer. The purpose of this jewellery, according to Kadri Mälk, lies in the quiet support of its wearers and in the discrete revelation of their identity.
