State effectiveness relies on the quality of public service provision. In low- and middle-income countries, population access to basic public goods, such as health services, often depends on the service providers' work. Improving their performance is a recurrent challenge. This session discusses policy interventions that we tested in Guinea-Bissau to address this challenge.

Ph.D. Candidate in Economics at Nova School of Business and Economics. Mattia is affiliated with NOVAFRICA and the Bissau Economics Lab. He holds an MSc in Economic Analysis from the Barcelona School of Economics and a BSc in Economics and Social Sciences from Bocconi University. Research interests include randomized controlled trials in economics and behavioural economics.
